It’s been a while since the World Series of Poker last hosted the Main Event, but in just over a year we’ll be seeing this tournament return to the WSOPE. There are a few key things you’ll want to know about the tournament, including buy-ins, venues, satellites, and prize money.
Buy-in
The buy-in for 2022 World Series of Poker Main Event is set at $10,000. This is not a large number by any means, but it’s not small either. WSOP’s biggest event of the year is expected to draw thousands of players, and the prize pool is huge.
In addition to the main event, a new tournament called the Ultra Stack will also be offered at the next WSOP. Players will be able to buy in for a super-deep stacked tournament. No details have been revealed yet, but the buy-in is likely to be high.
Another new addition to the WSOP in 2023 is the Tournament of Champions. The event is open to gold ring winners from the 2022/23 WSOP Circuit season. These players are given a chance to win a seat at the main event.
Among the other events on the schedule are the WPT Poker Icons Experience, which will feature some of poker’s most famous faces. Doyle Brunson and Phil Ivey are both scheduled to be in attendance.
Satellites
If you’re a poker enthusiast, you’ve probably heard about the WSOP. The WSOP is the world’s most prestigious poker tournament and draws some of the best players from around the world. This year, it starts in Las Vegas on May 5th, and there are some ways to qualify for the Main Event.
One of the most common ways to get a seat in the main event is to buy into a satellite. These satellites allow you to play big buy-in tournaments without spending a fortune. Most of these satellites cost less than $1, and they will give you a chance to win a WSOP package. Plus, you’ll usually receive a team shirt and other gear as well.
Another option is to purchase a seat in a “Mega Satellite” that will award you with a ticket to a $50,000 High Roller tournament. Unfortunately, this doesn’t happen every day.
There are also Mega and Turbo Satellites to be had. While the Mega one may not have the largest payout, it is definitely a good way to qualify for the WSOP’s biggest prize.
Venues
The 2022 World Series Of Poker is going to be on a much bigger stage than ever. After 17 years at Rio All Suite Hotel & Casino, the Main Event will begin on the Las Vegas Strip. And, the poker community will welcome it.
It’s a return to the roots of the World Series of Poker. Originally, the event was held in Binion’s Horseshoe on the Strip. In 1970, the first event took place at this location. But it was moved to the Rio All Suite Hotel & Casino in 2005. With the introduction of the COVID pandemic, the poker world was on the verge of breaking a record.
But, the global pandemic struck the poker world in 2020, and poker venues and the entertainment business were negatively affected. Fortunately, the series will now take place in two new venues on the Las Vegas Strip: Bally’s and Paris Las Vegas Hotel & Casino.
There’s a lot of action on the World Series of Poker schedule in 2022, with 88 live bracelet events scheduled. High-rollers will have more than a few $25k events and multiple $100k events. WSOP will also introduce a $1,000 buy-in Million Dollar Bounty tournament, and the Tournament of Champions.
Prize money
The 2022 World Series Of Poker (WSOP) broke several records, including the largest prize pool in the history of poker tournaments. This year, the tournament attracted 8,663 entrants, generating a total of $80,782,475 in prize money. Almost all of the payouts go to the top nine players who reach the final table, which will be played on July 15 and 16.
Among the many new things that the WSOP will be doing this year are four starting days and super deep stacks. All of these changes will help to improve the overall quality of the tournament.
In the main event, Koray Aldemir took home $8 million. Runner-up Adrian Attenborough earned $3,600,000. Espen Jorstad won $10 million.
In a series of records, the 2022 World Series of Poker also set several more. Among other things, the event has attracted the second-largest field ever.
Last year’s main event drew 5,732 entries. In comparison, the 2006 Main Event had an entry count of 8,773. Both events set records for entrants and prize money.
